Committee for Sensible Transit = MAVERICKS!

Seriously, as if their argument wasn't callous or transparent enough, the lone opposition to light rail in KC is being uncovered for what they really are. The Pitch makes it clear again that we're not dealing with Mom and Pop on Main Street. Some key highlights:

- One business owner is bankrolling the entire campaign.
- Their new car wash, which will take up a half-block of what should be store fronts on one of our busiest commercial corridors, will be totally automated (Are Mom and Pop behind some curtain? Will it breed crime? How do more car washes address KC's goal of becoming a green mecca?).
- Their "campaign's" last ditch effort is to throw out the ballot question on a technicality.

Do they have what it takes to make a compelling case against light rail when the electorate has proven — both at the ballot box in 2006 and in polling earlier this year — that they're tired of talk and want action. The answer is NO. Vote YES on Nov. 4.

I personally question the judgment of their business plan. They bought the land in 2007, but wasn’t Main St. the planned alignment even back then? (I’ve lost track of the Grand vs. Main debacle…) Did they not foresee that there would be another vote?

Is there any way we can makethings more difficult for them? Can we camp out in front with signs encouraging a boycott?

By the time we get ready for LR electric cars will be out,and you just plug in your car overnight for .85 cents a day for transportation. Cheaper than the bus.Now that gas has gone down and winter coming on let’s see the bus count in two months.

As a former runner and a former bus driver and one of those Americans whom is tolerant but not in love with the automobile, I have a warm place in my heart for the IDEA of good transit. But can you see how ever one sided, parochial, and myopic some of the anti feeder rail campaign the majority view as such as just another ineffectual ‘bailout’?

$1B buys a lot, a lot, of buses. KCMO has a mayor whom does not even clock in at City Hall. My high school [Ruskin] is seriously considering a QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLAR artsy fartsy ART FENCE when a perfectly suitable structure is already in place.

The out come of the rail effort [and Funk’s political future] is and was obvious. No PhDs need apply! Quick some one look up Leno and Letterman’s email!
