KC Light Rail

Your source for news and information on Kansas City’s light rail progress

“The Ballad of Clay Chastain” (b/w “The Compromise”)

If you don't get the headline, you're too young.

We'll admit that we've been intentionally avoiding the public rantings of Clay Chastain lately because, well… they just seem so irrelevant in the grand scheme of things (sort of like the blogosphere's constant nagging on Mayor Funkhouser). The Council legally repealed the original plan and a new one is in the works, okay? However, one of our least-referenced local news sources — KC's alternative weekly, The Pitch — brought us the most irresistable piece folk tunage to clog our high-speed interweb tubes: The Ballad of Clay Chastain. It makes us pine for the days when we would record Dr. Demento on cassettes. So while we're on the topic of Chastain, we'll also mention that he delivered a way-too-belated compromise to the Council (and voters) today. Release your venomous comments, local bloggers!

    No venom here, lightrailers.

But the only councilperson openly against the light rail starter route is Funk. (maybe Sharp as well, I’m not sure).

No one on this blog acts the least bit concerned about the future of light rail in KC.

I have a mental picture of people’s arms joined, singing “light rail shall set us free!” as they walk off a cliff.

Thanks for sharing your mental picture. Our arms will be joined as we **board the train** off the cliff, silly.

For all of the uneducated lawyers at K.C. City Hall. You should all go to a web site www.odyne.com and see that Clay Chastain knows what he is talking about with electric buses. Not only buses but the heavy trucks the city uses also. With diesel over $4.00 a gallon and going higher Odyne has a inside line on converting large vehicles to HYBRID. Note I said converting, not making; to the uneducated politician/lawyer this means you don’t need to buy new buses. After every other city in the country converts, will you be last in line again? Just the opinion on one Electronic Engineer; but if you were as smart as you think you are you would all be dangerous.
