maybe “dead” is too strong a word. i would say that their original intent has shifted to simply making sure there is consensus on the council for a starter line in november. according to comments at yesterday’s business session, johnson is working with (what’s left of) the task force.

regardless, one thing is universal: the first step for rail will be between the plaza and the river.

Nice use of the task force if the plan gets killed before it even gets completed. Gotta love this city some days.

1. clay’s plan = dead before it was repealed
2. mayor’s plan = got the party started, commuter rail will be the major by-product
3. task force recommendation = dead
4. the star’s plan = dead
5. the pitch’s plan = interesting, but dead
6. russ johnson’s plan = to new to tell

for the record, this site will not be proposing a different plan.

Sounds good for the most part but it should stay in Jackson County for the starter line.If it was 7 miles for [$55 million a mile for LR] $385 million the city would only need 50% from the feds.
If streetcars were used only $140 million at $20 million a mile,the feds would give $70 million which is about all the might have for us with our low density.
If a light rail line route were done it would be far better from the Airport to Union Station. Could use the speed and have attached cars.

So what are we up to, 3 light rail plans on the table now? And the city council said voters were ‘confused’ over Chastain’s plan? Heck, i’m trying to keep up and it’s hard…
